 District Governor

District GovernorName:
Leah Burch

Home Club
Concordia College, Moorhead

Division:
Rolling Plains Division

Major and Year in School:
Senior majoring in Spanish and Pre-Chiropractics

Description and your favorite part of your position:
My job is to pass on information from the Circle K International level, supervise committees, delegate duties to your district board, monitor the on-goings of the district, communicate with our district and other levels of our K-Family, and promote all the we do in CKI! I love getting to meet people and make a difference. I have grown a lot and have learned a lot from being in this organization, and I am humbled to be your governor. My focus is on the future of CKI and I am very excited to build bridges leading to strengthening our organization by laying down some ground work with our district board and continuing to strengthen our awesome district!

Favorite Service project:
Kids Against Hunger. I really enjoy the Kids Against Hunger events when we get together and package food for places in need. It is fun to do, especially when you turn it in to some friendly competition, and a great way to get to know people, and at the same time you are doing something for a really great cause.

Favorite Circle K Memory:
I really enjoyed playing broomball at night on the lake in Grand Rapids at our 2010 District Convention. I probably fell on the ice at least 100 times and had countless bruises, but it was really fun bonding with everyone and I had a blast!

Random Fact about yourself:
Out of the thousands of random and odd things about me, off the top of my head I would say I really enjoy wearing spandex and I like the smell of gasoline. Yup.

Favorite Service project:

Favorite Circle K Memory:
My first year in CKI, I volunteered to tutor at a local elementary school. I was assigned to work with a little boy in second grade, he had a lot of energy. So every 10-15 minutes or so I would give him a couple minute break, the funny part was that he pretended to be a dog-monkey, and would crab-walk around the room.

Random Fact about yourself:
I have worn glasses since I was 3 years old.

Favorite Service project:
My favorite service project so far was helping out the Multiple Sclerosis society by helping one of their members with yard work twice a year. We have gone and racked leaves and did some gardening with one of their members and it was a lot of fun. We were then able to sit down and talk with her after the work and we talked for about three hours just about random stuff.

My favorite Circle K memory would have to be International Convention in St. Louis. I decided to go two days before the deadline, and it was a great experience and I met a lot of great people. I was also able to build closer friendships with members of our district.
