Hello Minn-Dak Circle K!

I am excited to invite you to attend the Minnesota-Dakotas District of Circle K International’s 2012 District Convention! On March 2-4, 2012, Circle K clubs from around the district will be gathering in Brookings, South Dakota for a weekend of service, leadership, and fellowship activities.

District Convention signifies the end of the Circle K year and the beginning of a new one as we elect the upcoming year’s District Board and celebrate your club’s success this past year. We are going to be celebrating our year of service with a Jungle/Indiana Jones theme by “Getting Lost in the Jungle of Service!” Highlights of convention include the Circle K Extravaganza, House of Delegates, elections of the District Board, various service projects, officer training, zumba, a dance, awards, a raffle and more!

One important aspect of District Convention is applying for district awards. All clubs in good standing (active club status) are eligible to apply for awards. There are a wide array of awards for clubs and individuals to apply for, so don’t wait; get started now! Overwhelmed by all the awesome things to apply for? Start a committee and get the club to help apply! Distinguished Officer Awards and the Club Achievement Awards are due on February 24th by 11:59 pm, and the rest of the awards are due by or at DCON on March 3rd by 8:00 am. Many of these awards have multiple places for awards, so apply for as many as you can and see what you get! The District Board is also asking that each club apply for the Club Achievement awards, as it is an award that is not given based on a minimum required amount but rather the clubs with the most points. This award will also help the District Board to see what clubs achieved this year and where we had some consistencies and inconsistencies so we can better prepare the upcoming District Board for the tasks they can work on to further grow our district.

Lastly, come prepared with your tribe (or club) with a tribal chant (or cheer) as well as some prepared for a tribal penny war to raise funds for Project ELIMINATE! I look forward to seeing everyone in Brookings as we “Get Lost in the Jungle of Service” together!

In Service and Fellowship,

Leah Burch
